Conference SpeakersMonday’s two general sessions will focus upon “Appreciating Our Heritage” as fellowship of churches.
Maynard Belt — The first session of the conference will begin at 1:00 p.m. on October 24, with an opening message by former MARBC State Representative, Maynard Belt. Maynard and his wife Ann faithfully served the MARBC for 16 years prior to “retiring” in 2006. Maynard now serves as President of Fellowship of Missions, Associate Pastor of Senior Ministries and Care at West Cannon Baptist Church in Belmont, MI, and Special Representative for Church Relations with Baptist Mid-Missions.
Ken Floyd — The evening session will feature the current MARBC Executive Ministry Director, Ken Floyd. Ken and his wife Sharon have served with the MARBC since 2006. They have one daughter and two grandchildren. Prior to his ministry with the MARBC, Ken served as a pastor for over 25 years. The Floyds enjoy their many opportunities to minister in MARBC churches through out the state.
Tuesday’s three general sessions will focus upon “Embracing Our Future.”
Bob McNeil — Bob is a second-generation MARBC pastor and has frequently served on the MARBC Council. He has served as Senior Pastor of Shelby Road Baptist Church in Shelby since 1984, during which time the Lord has blessed the church with significant growth and facility expansion. Bob is a frequent speaker at conferences and camps. Bob and his wife Cindy have raised all three of their daughters while serving at Shelby.
Chris Weeks — Christopher Weeks has been serving at Kent City Baptist Church for 16 years, where he has served in the role of lead pastor for the last 8. He received a Masters degree from Moody Bible Institute, and a Bachelors of Science in Marketing & Communications from University of Dayton. He and his wife Michelle have four children. He has served on the GRARBC Council for over 6 years, was part of a Co-Mission project to teach Christian ethics in the former Soviet Union, and is an excellent Rugby player.
R. Mark Shaw — Mark has been Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville since 1995. He and his wife Diane have two married sons and four grandchildren. Mark is also involved with the leadership team of Lincoln Lake Baptist Youth Camp. Mark grew up in an MARBC church, First Baptist Church in Cass City, where his parents (Dick and Shirley) faithfully served for 50 years before recently moving to Greenville. Mark’s parents were recognized at the recent GARBC Annual Conference with a Service Award, as reported in the June-July 2012 issue of the Baptist Testimony.
Deanna Miller — Deanna, who serves as a missionary with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Detroit, will lead the Children’s Sessions (K-6th grade) during the conference. Along with Biblical teaching, she leads the children in creative craft sessions. We ask that parents please pre-register, if possible, so that we can adequately plan for these sessions. Nursery care will also be provided by the church.
Conference DetailsA MARBC Family Session will be held on Monday afternoon. Ministry reports, the proposed 2013 budget, and election of the Council of 16 will be a part of this session. Nomination forms for the Council of 16 are available to download from the MARBC website here, and will also be emailed to each member church in early September. Details relating to the nomination process are included on these forms.
Also included in the Family Session will be a motion to approve the proposed MARBC Articles of Faith. This important document is available for review on the MARBC website here. You are encouraged to contact a Council of 16 member should you have any questions regarding MARBC business matters.
