Talents For Christ encourages students to develop their talents by practicing and through the feedback they receive throughout the process. Peer review, mentoring from a coach, and ultimately the competition all work together to help students become more efficient in using their talents for the Lord. Church ministry requirements that are part of the competition help students realize how they can integrate their talents and interests into the ministry of the church. Utilizing more seasoned individuals for mentoring creates intergenerational collaboration, which strengthens and encourages both individuals and the church. Getting the whole youth group involved creates cohesion and encourages spiritual growth as a group.

The 2014 MARBC Talents for Christ Competition Fees are: $65 for each Scholarship category, $15 for each individual Open category, and $40 for each group category. This year’s Talents for Christ student competition includes a few changes. The first major change is that the MARBC and OARBC (Ohio) are partnering together this year for this spring’s Talents for Christ state competition. The MARBC Council of 16 has chosen this action due to MARBC budgetary needs and the transition of long-time MARBC TFC Co-coordinator Ken Pyne to a new ministry at Baptist Bible College and Seminary. The competition will be held in Ohio on Saturday, April 5, at First Baptist Church 11400 LaGrange Road, Elyria, Ohio. While the competitions will be held in the same location and utilize the same judges, each state association’s youth will compete only with other youth from their state. This means that Michigan students will be judged separately from Ohio students. An additional change for this year is that all state and national registration is being cared for through the National Talents for Christ homepage on the GARBC website. Students desiring to participate in either the State and/or National Competitions must register online through the national TFC site. The deadline for registration is March 3. We encourage MARBC students to prayerfully consider being a part of Talents For Christ and maximize how their talents are used in serving God. Click here for TFC information and to register online.
